Zoloft (sertraline) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). It works by increasing levels of serotonin in the brain to improve mood and emotional balance.

• Dosage:
  • Typical range: 50–200mg once daily.
  • 100mg is a common therapeutic dose, often after initial titration from 25–50mg.
• Precautions:
  May take several weeks to show full effect. Monitor for suicidal thoughts, especially in young adults. Avoid abrupt discontinuation.
  Use caution when combined with other serotonergic drugs due to risk of serotonin syndrome.
